19″ rack installed
by teknopipo on May.25, 2009, under Audio
The last couple of afternoons I spent exploring K-Rauta, a big Swedish byggvarahus. The Swedish Praxis, if you like
I needed screws, bolts, hooks, drills, wheels and a bunch of wood to construct a 19″ rack for housing some audio stuff. It was a nice hobby project that I finished yesterday. Now the Waldorf and the Mackie aren’t clogging up my precious desk space any longer. Other modules in there: AFB8, SLM162, MDX2200, REV500 and the Warpfactory.
Why didn’t I just buy a 19″ rack? Well I could have, but they are hardly ever exactly what you want, plus they cost ten times the amount I spent now.
Next hobby project is setting up a beginner’s guide to MIDI and Audio routing….
Night canoeing
by teknopipo on May.19, 2009, under Daily life
If you’re ever in Utrecht, be sure to go night canoeing with a bunch of people. You peddle a canoe through the canals of Utrecht, see some cool sites along the way, and stop halfway for a couple of beers. Don’t think lightly of it though, this is serious business – the trip takes three hours, some bridges only give you and your canoe 30 centimeters of space, and you get soaking wet. But it’s definitely a cool way to explore Utrecht under a starry moonlit sky.
En nu eerst koffie

There’s no such thing as a Senseo coffee machine in Sweden. Too bad, because this invention from Dutch heroes Philips and Douwe Egberts is the only thing that wakes me up fast. So I brought one from Holland. The machine works with coffee pads and a high pressure water boiler. The pad system is proprietary, so I can’t get any Senseo pads in Sweden either. I brought a supply from Holland but I don’t think it’ll last long. So feel free to send me some
On the left side of the picture, insiders may recognize my espresso friend Technomax from the French Provence.

Writing this post in the car while Sini is driving
Today we are on the road from Holland to Sweden. Only a few kilometers left before we reach Fredrikshavn, Denmark, where we’ll be taking the ferry boat to Göteborg…
Målarna

Today I had my first experience as a Swedish painter. I helped Sini help her mom paint a true Scandinavian red wooden house in Hamptetorp.
It’s a real pretty house by a big lake, and we get to use it in the summer if we feel like it. Would be a cool idea to invite some people, have a few beers and sail a boat up the lake. It’s amazing how clean the air is and how quiet it gets at night. Maybe we should have an astronomy camp there…
Stuff on the move
by teknopipo on May.07, 2009, under Daily life
The guys from Alfa Moving picked up most of the stuff from my appartment this week. Next week it’s arriving in Stockholm in my new place! Only a few things left to do in Holland – I will need some friends to help me take out the old carpet and finish my wine collection. Probably next Wednesday, so if you read this and you’re interested, let me know…
Also you should check this out.
