The IKEA was selling them for 1,49 euro a piece. I thought that odd since they were normally a couple thousand each. I decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth. I bought 60. I like plaids.
Will be fun to see all these JWG kids sitting nice and warm behind their telescopes or by the camp fire.

New DiscoWolf78 rehearsal mixes!
by teknopipo on Dec.11, 2009, under Audio, Friends
The future of DiscoWolf78 is uncertain. Erik the Awful is leaving us for at least a while, and the rehearsal rooms in Älvsjö are being scaled down. So we figured it would be a good idea to record some of our latest tracks before it’s too late. We recorded on 8 tracks in a live room, including some of our first own productions! Check it out!

Tunnelfest
by teknopipo on Dec.10, 2009, under Daily life, Friends
Last weekend I discovered that illegal stuff does happen in Stockholm. A tekno party in one of the abandoned Södermalm railroad tunnels. Apparently there’s a whole bunch of these tunnels around Södermalm. The tracks were used to transport the wounded to Södersjukhuset during the war, I learned from Burmester. Actually that got me wondering, what was going on in Sweden during WWII?
Anyway, what could have been awesome turned out to be a classic fail. From the start I thought it was strange that the party was announced on Facebook, but I was thinking hey this is Sweden, maybe it just works here. Unfortunately not, by the time we got there the police had already cleared the area. Too bad because it was a pretty cool idea, building a sound system on a ghost railroad track inside a mountain… And on the bright side, it’s the closest I’ve come so far to hearing real tekno in Sweden. We did actually hear two or three bars of high speed kick drums but that was it.
Better luck next time…
Örebro

Snygga frilla eller hur?
Spending the weekend in Örebro with Sinis parents. Yesterday we went hiking in Kilsbergen, a beautiful Scandinavian forest area with mountainbike roads and stuff. At night we went to see the second movie in the Stieg Larsson Millennium trilogy called Flickan som lekte med elden. Cool movie, though there was something weird about it. Some parts were slow, others were suddenly fast. First time I ever saw a movie in a cinema which was completely Swedish!
In other news: Rutger and I started blabbing about our punk rock ambitions yesterday, and it’s made us ambitious again. Next weekend I’ll be recording some live drums to Welcome to Sanity and I’m on a Roll. You can find an earlier recording of the latter song here, but it’s got a dodgy drumtrack which basicly came straight out of the sampler. Will be fun, I’ll finally get to try out Logic Pro 9, it’s been sitting on my desk for a week…

Teaching Sini to play drums
Stockholm jazz
by teknopipo on Jul.19, 2009, under Audio, Daily life, Friends
This weekend is Stockholm Jazz weekend. Me and Steve went to see a couple of cool concerts last Friday, which I so totally needed after a long week of hard work. July in Sweden means everyone gradually starts vanishing from your project to go on a five week vacation
That makes it pretty difficult to get anything done, but Friday was a successful day; time for some well deserved beers and music.
Stockholm Jazz is like a small festival in Skeppsholmen, with all sorts of artists. I finally got to see Marcus Miller for real! Sony Rollins was also pretty amazing. Having been infected by Steve’s enthousiasm, I went out yesterday and bought the missing instrument in my collection: my first bass guitar!
DLX music were having a sale so I got my hands on a Fender Jazz bass for a good price. Time to start learning some songs now
We concluded last night with a barbecue at Norrmälarstrand and some music at Fasching. Very gezellig! I’ve uploaded some pix on Picasa.
Strawberry fields
by teknopipo on Jun.28, 2009, under Family, Friends

Last weekend was action packed! Me and Sini flew to Holland for a weekend. I had to open a bank account, but since I was going over there anyway, I paid some visits to friends and family. Strawberry picking, visiting mum and Jasper, coffee at grandma’s, Joost’s party, jamming with Zenn & Math @ the Hekellaan, Sini’s first visit to a 5 minute Goa rave
– too much to mention, really, so just look at the pictures.
And on request, here’s a short video that captures the last part of the ride to Weeze Airport, including the prices of the parking lots, if you can read it….
Feeble attempt at bandlogo
by teknopipo on Jun.20, 2009, under Friends

Not exactly my area of expertise, but with some googling and gimping I arrived at this here logo. If my fellow musicians like it, I’ll have some T-shirts printed so we can wear them on our next gig. Stay tuned!
