I just rearranged my 19″ rack. I took out the crackling Mackie, obsolete compressor and V-Amp, and rerouted some equipment so my setup is aimed more at actually making music instead of at trying to figure out nice audio routing. Suddenly my filterbank, guitar pedals, kaossilator and machinedrum came alive and produced this dark and sinister track called Bury me in a nameless grave:

The schematic of the Alesis Multimix 8 Line is printed on top of its cover and not in the manual, which is kind of annoying if you’ve got it racked up. So I took a picture of it and uploaded it here for reference since I couldn’t find it anywhere else either. Click on the pic below for a large photo. I hope it’s useful to some people, it is to me at least.

The reason I needed the schematic is that I’m trying to figure out why my machine sometimes switches to mono output or left or right only signals. The Alesis website says: When a mono signal is present on any input or stereo send, the Left signal is automatically summed to mono for mono or stereo compatibility. I don’t understand the “or stereo send” part here, I suspect they mean “or stereo return”. And I seriously don’t have any mono signals connected, it’s just stereo synths all the way, and my cables seem to be fine as well…

Instead of making new year’s resolutions I like to look back at the year gone by and count my blessings. I’ve made a habit of keeping my photo collection properly organized, and at the end of each year I browse my photo harddisk. This is an exercise I can recommend to anyone. I think in these modern and fast times we live in nowadays, we sometimes take too little time to appreciate the events that happen in our lives. (continue reading…)

Sini en ik tijdens een koude winterdag bij -13 graden, op het bevroren meer Hjälmaren. Ik poseer hier met een traditionele en tevens moeilijk kleine Zweedse slee. Volgens mij is hij ooit gemaakt voor kerstdwergen. Want die wonen hier.

Sini and me visited Holland for the weekend. Worked at the Ericsson office in Rijen for a day. Drove on ice without spikes. Had some beer with friends in de Stichtse. Had a nice breakfast with Jasper, Mika and my mum in Utrecht. Met up with Jan and visited Marco and Jasminka in their new place. Ate some chocolate letters and pepernoten, ran into some Zwarte Pieten, and seen the new Dick Maas movie, Sint, with Graat.

Of course the weekend was again too short to do all the things I would have liked to do, but very cool nevertheless. And I have a fresh supply of Senseo pads
